VRS V8SCOPS 2018 – Round 14 – Sebring

Our resident talented Australian teenager Corey Ott decided at the last minute that he fancied a pop at the V8 SCOPS race at Sebring on Sunday, and whilst he didnt quite make the top split in pre-Q, he still had a cracking race in S2.

Corey had this to say about the race:

“V8 Supercar Online Premier Series went to Sebring International Raceway for the 2nd last round of the series and I thought I’d give it a go.

Qualified 28th (as starting order went from Pre-Q results for split 2), had a terrible start, dropping to the back but multiple incidents through the first few corners (and with my amazing driving) we got through it all and was 17th as we finish the first lap under caution.

After the caution, multiple cars went spinning or making mistakes, giving me opportunities to get more spots and at the end of the first 6 laps, we where in the top 10, but we didn’t stop there. As the race went on, people in front decided to pit and on lap 10 we were up to p2, but then going into Cunningham’s corner, leader braked too late, going wide and giving me the lead, I stayed out for another 2 laps, then pitted, coming out in 7th. Then it got spicy.

The car out in front of us made a huge mistake, gifting me a shot at a top 5. Then with 2 to go, 3rd at the time had to pit for fuel, placing me into the top 5, but 4th looked good, so I went for it, but coming out of Le Mans curve, was a little too aggressive on the right foot, nearly binning the car, but kept 5th spot, an amazing achievement for me, that’s for sure!

At the end of my third ever SCOPS event, I’d gained 23 spots, led 2 laps in the Team Buschfink Racing Holden and grabbed a great experience and memory of it! “
