FISRA KRX Rnd 2 – Atlanta Motorspeedway

Round 2 of the Kars Rallycross Series would be held at Atlanta Motorspeedway with the TBR Finland duo of Teemu Toikka and Antti Ahola hoping to replicate their results from round 1.

Qualifying went well for Antti, finishing 3rd which placed him on pole in H3, however Teemu struggled and was only able to make 23rd for a starting position of 6th also in H3.

Come the heats and Antti’s good form continued with a win placing him straight through to the feature race. Teemu overcame his poor starting position but was only able to snag a 4th place meaning he would have to work through the lower finals and hope for a place in the feature race. As it turned out, 2nd in the C main would have Teemu starting 8th in the feature with Antti lining up in 3rd.

The 10 lap feature race started pretty well for Antti, moving in to second place on the second lap, however he would drop back to 3rd soon afterwards, a position he would maintain to the finish. Teemu’s rough day continued through the feature, never really getting going he would pull out of the race on lap 8 with damage.

Antti had this to say about the meeting:

2nd race in the FISRA hosted finnish KRX rallycross league, with minimal practice l managed to pull in a p3 from the feature race after starting p3 which is the worst position to start on the Atlanta RX course because of the shortest run on the grippy gravel until you hit the loose gravel. Got passed by almost by the entire grid before turn 1 so had to take the joker on the first lap and just keep doing my best to get the best position out of the race. Good battle with Otto Taskinen from Positive Sim Racing for p3 as he made a mistake earlier in the race. Teemu unfortunately DNF’d.”

Results are here.
